6 Ways to Rejuvenate Your Skin in 2023

It’s 2023! It’s common to make New Year’s Resolutions during the beginning of a new year. In 2023, why not start by focusing on your skin? Have you noticed your skin growing dry or flakey? There are things you can do throughout the year to rejuvenate and refresh your skin.

1. Get ready to hydrate. 

One of the best ways to rejuvenate your skin is to think about hydration. This means both inside of your body and out. To start with, you should drink plenty of water. Drinking enough water each day has a strong link to maintaining healthy, happy skin. You should try to drink about one and a half ounces of water for each pound that you weigh each day. When you drink this much water, you will help your skin stay fresh and flexible. Drinking plenty of water helps with your overall health too! When it comes to the outside of your body, make sure to use plenty of moisturizer. Find a moisturizer that works for you based on your skin’s condition and use it at least twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. To better protect your skin, consider using a moisturizer with sunscreen in it.

2. Get excited to exfoliate. 

To encourage your skin’s rejuvenation, make sure to regularly exfoliate. Your skin naturally sheds dead cells regularly.  Sometimes, they cling to your body and refuse to leave. These dead cells create a dry, flakey layer that needs to be removed. When you exfoliate regularly, you help shed these cells and expose the fresh skin underneath. This is even more important during cold or dry weather, which effects your skin and causes it to dry out too. The best way to exfoliate is to get an exfoliating scrub or cleanser. There are also exfoliating tools or loofahs that can help. Use lukewarm water and rub the scrub in circular motions for around 30 seconds. After you’re done, rinse your skin completely. It’s important not to over-exfoliate, though, as you don’t want to damage the fresh skin underneath the dry, flakey skin. Try to limit exfoliation to two to three times per week.  

3. Kick a smoking habit to the curb. 

Smoking creates a home environment that can cause pre-mature aging and greatly impact the condition of your skin. The chemicals and additives in cigarettes degrade the elastic fibers and other tissues in your skin as well. It also adds to the stress in your cells, causing them to degrade faster. If you regularly smoke, quitting in 2023 can be a goal to help improve the health of your skin and the rest of your body too. 5. Wear sunscreen every day, even in the snow.

UV damage is also a huge factor in dulling your skin. A great way to protect your skin is to wear sunscreen daily. Even in cloudy or cold days, sunrays still hit your skin.
