Prepare for Fall

September sees the welcome return of fall on the 22nd. The season of pumpkin lattes, cozy sweaters, harvest festivals, and Hocus Pocus 2 is fast upon us.

One of the least welcome things about autumn, however, is that the cooler weather can dry out your skin. The drop in humidity mixed with the change the weather conditions can really do a number on your skin, removing the healthy glow you’ve worked hard to maintain this summer.

That’s why it’s important to start a good skin routine early to prepare your skin for the change in the season. Once it’s a habit, that frees you up to enjoy those autumnal vibes. Here are five tips to help kick up your skin care routine before the start of fall.

1. Make a moisturizing part of your fall routine.

During the warmer weather it’s normal to use a face moisturizer that is light and fun to help keep your skin hydrated. During the summer, it’s good to prioritize a face moisturizer that focuses on sun protection too. During the fall season, however, it’s time to choose a ceramide heavy cream made with healthy fatty acids. These can help the skin on your face keep moisture locked in. When it comes to your body, choose a lotion that will help keep your skin hydrated and happy. Remember, you’ll want something that doesn’t feel sticky, so your sweaters will be safe during the colder months. When you combine a routine with face moisturizer and body lotion, you can help keep your skin healthier in fall.

2. Use exfoliating products wisely.

Exfoliation feels great and is a prefect way to peel off some dead skin, but it also exposes the top layer of your skin to harsh weather conditions. It can strip away any tan you’ve worked on during the summer. Cut back on how much you exfoliate during the fall to help your skin recover. Instead, consider some face masks to give your skin a healthy treat without stripping the top layer of moisture.

3. Consider supplements.

Supplements are a great way to boost your skin care. Speak to your doctor before you add any pills or other products to your diet, especially if you take medication. After that conversation, natural supplements can be an addition to your lifestyle to help keep your skin healthy. Most of the big supplement brands have specific “Hair, Skin, Nails” supplements that can give you the vitamins which support your skin.

4. Get a humidifier.

The main thing that strips your skin of moisture during the fall is a drop in humidity. A great way to negate that is to buy a humidifier for your home and use it the same time that you use your heater. This can soothe your skin throughout the day and help it lock in the benefits from your moisturizing routine.

5. Pamper yourself.

Planning a day of pampering can go a long way towards giving your skin a better fall. The BrickHouse Facial services can provide cleansing, hydration, calming, and rejuvenation to your skin.
